Thanks. Coincidentally, I just received notification from Cyanogen that
there's an update to Maxim DL (1.41) which reads 16 bit TIFF files. I guess
this explains why I was having problems before.

When you import into Corel or Photoshop and you want to keep it in 16
bit format, you need to process in RGB or CYMK, otherwise it changes to 8
bit.
