It seems from reading this
(<http://www.mailbag.com/users/ragreiner/decfixmajor.html >) that LX200
owners would have been saved a lot of grief had Meade used a pair of $5
bearings instead of the (presumably cheaper) nylon ones. This kind of cost
cutting is what drives me nuts about the LX200. Don't get me wrong, I love
my LX200 and I still think its a great product. But think how much better
it would have been if not for all these silly little cut corners!
And don't start about how a $10 increase in manufacturing cost translates
to a $50 increase final sales price. First of all, it is really not that
simple. And even if it were, I (and I suspect most of you) would be happy
to pay a few hundred bucks more for a more robust and trouble-free product.
