My advice would be to use other folks' scopes at the star party and make
your decision AFTER that. There is no substitute for actual experience.

I've never had much desire for a Moon filter. Try observing the Moon
without it first and see if you think it is so bright that you could see
more if it were dimmer. (It's never too bright for me in my 12" scope;
YMMV.)
