While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Ric,

What you can say about perfomance compare to Meade?

We can't compete with mounts on the USA market against USA-based manufacturers
by obviouse reason - this market is cheap and not under our foots.
If you will be so lucky to buy our scope, you will see that it don't need to be
repaired if you will be not so crazy for specially damage it.
Who need to repair their TAKAHASHI (refractors and SCT) or Zeiss (refr. or
Maks)?
Can you find even one person?
> Do you make a scope with large aperture ???
Yes, we do. Up to the 1.8m new technology space telescope. :-)
> How many scopes to you sell in a year ????
Enough to have a good annual balance.
> Why don't you get a job with Meade ????
Ric, seriously, you mock at me?
>I think I will change my perspective and join the Meade bashers, its

Belive me, I like all amateurs so much. I have changed my lover job
(pros astronomy and pros scope design) and ahead the "amateur" section
of ARIES because I really was grow from amateur community and I keep
this love in my soul. I have spend a looot of money (especially for my country)
to visit some star parties in a Europe to see what amateurs really want to have,
what we really can offer for them. Also a looot of time and forces was spend to
design some telescopes for amateurs with intention to see really satisfied
customers,
not only see a profit. They are: full range of APOs - 5" - 14", 10"
Maks., 16" Cass.,
8" F/2.5 camera instead of bulky Shmidt, corrector of false colors for
Meade(!)
refractors, 90- degree flat field oculars. Not all available yet. But will be.
Look at our prices for fluorite triplets, for our 10" Mak, 16" Cass etc. (
all highest possible quality). You see?
And now I can say with hope that you belive me - sorry, but you really quite
biased by Meade.
I must say that I like Meade very much before, when saw only ADS in the
Sky and Telescope. I continue to admire by idears of their scopes.
But I can't accept their quite lier ADS, inresponsible approach to
dissatisfied
customers, to QC etc.
> The Meade vs. SBIG product line is not a fair conparison because SBIG
>charges twice the cost for the smaller cameras. Its general true you get
>what you pay for, but most want value for their money, including myself.
Meade too has their best profit by reselling cheap products from Asia.
And my advice to you Ric. Please, find in your mind the space for another
point of view and courage to stay on this different point and open your eyes
and mind. Please, visit, even once, a europian or japanece star party and
ask any a little bit experience amateurs about approach to quality and respon-
sibility they need. And about Meade and their products. Probably this will
open your eyes.
Please, do not consider this letter as personal attack. I love all amateurs
exept someone with ill ego. But I know Ric is not one of them.
Best wishes to all Mapugers in new 1998.
Sincerely,
Valery Deryuzhin
