Jonathan--We had this discussion several months ago, and I believe the
conclusion was to go with the 10". If it has decent optics, it can resolve as
well as the Mak and has much more aperture for deep sky and astrophotography.
The Mak is a little more compact, but its long f/ratio limits its effective
use to the small detail objects, i.e., planets, dbl. stars, etc. I've got a
pair of Maks (one's for sale, BTW) and can attest to their ability to do well
for these objects, but it's not as versatile a scope as the 10" SCT.
