There are 6 wires that need to be connected between the Dec drive and
the main computer. Believe me when I say that one of the most difficult
problems in mechanical control design is getting connection around
joints that need to rotate 360 degrees. This is a very very difficult
problem. If you have a good solution let us all know.

VCRs and anything with a rotating head use high frequency rotating
trnasformers. This would be an additional very expensive solution.
Tough problem do not hold your breath for a solution.
