While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Hi all,
Greetings from Indonesia. I'm new to this list. I've been using Meade
since 1993, mine is 2080B.
Since the day I unpacked the scope (I bought it through Lumicon), I
notice there's something wrong. The threaded ring that connects the
diagonal to the optical tube can not be threaded all the way in. I had
to place a plastic in the ring to prevent the diagonal from "hanging".
What should I do to fix this problem? Is it common? Will replacing the
diagonal with a 2" diagonal solve the problem? I do not know whether the
problem is on the ring or on the tube.
Second thing is about motor dirve. I live in Southern hemisphere, but
the drive for my scope is for Northern Hemisphere. What should I do to
fix so it's operable for Southern Hemisphere. The drive is working, but
If I use it I have to point the scope North, if I point it to Sigma
Octantis, then it won't track the stars, it just make the stars drift
faster.
The last question is about upgrading 2080. Can I upgrade my scope so
that I can use LX 50, LX 2000 is too expensive.
Thanks for any advice or suggestion
Bob
