A Question to the Group,
My new 10" LX50 has two exterior dec gears on the forks. One larger than
the other. Manually or electronically the Dec axis feels like it does not
move smoothly and the rough movement seems to be related to an observed
warp in the smaller of the gears. The speed seems to vary (further
description of what rough means to me). Now the stupid questions.
Is it common for the gears to be warped?
A more stupid question.
Is the warped gear the most probable cause of the varying speed.
Should I have Meade send me a new gear or both gears?
Would both gears be required in order to mesh will?
Can I replace the gears myself once Mead sends me the new ones or is this
something I will have to send the forks back to Meade.
Thanks in advance.
