*Sometimes* there are sulphurous vapors emited by Kilauea. Not nice for
either your lungs or your optics. But it is trivial to get away from.
Kilauea is kind of out of the way in the first place. Take the drive, see
the volcano, then do your observing somewhere else. Ignore the stupid
rental car rules about the Saddle Road.
