While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Hello All,
I have a general question about the amount of tracking error that can
occur before a 35mm photograph has trailed stars. I am using a Celestron
80mm f/11 with a 2x barlow and a 216xt as a guide scope on my 10" LX200
at f/10 (no focal reducer). The scope is guiding and has been for 30 min
now with no problems.
I have a Meade 9mm guiding eyepeice in the LX200 and a star has been
centered in the small box formed at the intersection of the dual cross
hairs. The star has not traveled outside of the box but moves around
inside it while the scope is being guided. Is this good enough for 35mm
photographs? It is definatly easier than using a OAG. I think a focal
reducer would be better but when I use one I get vignetting. I am just
practicing setting up and using the guide scope setup. Next clear night
I will take pictures. One step at a time for me, it was a long time
getting to this point :)
Thanks in advance!
