For all interested in the NEAR flyby....
The NEAR homepage has all the information - times and sky maps, etc. - at:
http://sd-www.jhuapl.edu/NEAR
It occurs early Friday (23rd) for the east coast and late Thursday (22nd) for
the western
U.S. As sunlight bounces off the large solar panels, the spacecraft will
appear brighter
than Capella (just above the location in Perseus where the spacecraft will be)
for several
seconds up to half a minute. Try videotaping the event with WWV time signals
running in the background. The scientists at Johns Hopkins (makers of the
craft) are interested in receiving sighting observations.
