While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I converted mine to use the reticle plug on the lx200 control panel. I
have a celestron 6mm ill. battery powered one. It was very easy to
convert. Just drill a small hole in the side of the retcle illuminator
and with the proper wire(6' 2 coductor 16 or 18 guage) and mini stereo
plug, Strip off 1/4inch of insulation on the 2 conductor piece o wire,
thread a few inches through the hole you drilled in the battery holder,
tie a small knot in the wire maybe 2 inches below where you stripped so
wire doesn't pull through the drilled hole, solder the wire to the + _
terminals inside the illuminater,
close the baby up and plug it into your lx200 reticle control port. You
can now use all the hand controller functions available with the wired
reticle.
