Gregg,
I to had the same problem with the 9mm Meade eyepiece. I solved it by
unscrewing the LED/battery compartment a placing a small piece of
notebook paper down inside. The eyepiece goes from completely off to
about half what it was without the paper. If the battery gets to weak I
just take this paper out. Hope this helps.
