I guess you are referring to Acorn nuts instead of Dome nuts. The
Acorn nuts are just a beauty fastener and will not cause any harm to the
equipment if it falls off. In any case, I would periodically check all
fasteners on the scope to prevent screws from backing out especially
scopes that are transported frequently.
