While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

A week or two ago someone asked if the moons of Jupiter were visible during
a transit (using a Meade scope of course). FWIW Ganymede is plainly visible
crossing the central meridian as I write this ,10:15 EST Oct 20. 12" LX200.
Please correct me if I am wrong, it is darker than planet behind it, but
according to Sky and Tel chart it is Ganymede,(and not the shadow) with
shadow due in a few hours.
