This is a long standing problem in philosophy. You really don't want to
get into it. :-) The guys who argue about it are nuts. This is the first
step toward solipsism. And if you think a drug addict is wasted try a
dedicated solipsist!

The real bottom line is that we all agree on most aspects of our
perceptions and can fairly confidently assume that they are more or less
accurate reflections of the real world. Were that not so our species
probably wouldn't have survived. Of course, there are "anomalies" but we
have figured out most of them and easily compensate.
