While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Gene:

Here is what I've discovered so far. First of all the situation is different
between a SCSI and Serial connection to the 416.

Serial:
I have gotten autofocus to work by connecting the LX200 to the LX200 port on
the control box. From what I've read, I believe (but am not certain) that in
order for autocenter and scope goto commands to work as well, you must have
two serial ports
- one connects with the 416 control box's rs232 port.
- one connects directly to the LX200
- connect LX200 port on control box to scope
- you need a duplex RJ11 adapter to connect the pc and control box cables to
the scope.
Again, I understand the above to be the case, but I don't have dual serail
ports on my laptop to test it out for sure. I have had toruble sharing the
416's LX200 port with anything else while in SCSI mode, some there may be an
issue here. There is also a possibility to autofocus and calibrate directly
from the control box.

SCSI
Again, I only have a single serial port, but this seems to be working:
- for autofocus, connect the control box LX200 port directly to the LX200
- for auto center and goto commands, disconnect the LX200 cable from the
control hox and move it to the pc.

Hopefully I haven't confused the situation more....its confusing enough
already.

Kevin
