My question is regards a Tuthill NO-DU mark II shield. Last week the
conditions were such that required I plug in the dew shield. As I always
do, I placed the dew shield on my LX200 but without connecting into the
power. After 2 hours the corrector plate was totally misted. I removed
the OTA and placed it in the car with the car's heater running for 30
minutes. After re-assembling the scope I plugged the dew shield into my
power pack. Unfortunately the corrector again misted up after 1 hour.
Placing my palm onto the felt lining of the dew shield I could not feel
any heat emanating from the covered wires. I have plugged the shield
into the power pack indoors and tried to feel for some heat, but again I
could not determine any discernible rise in temperature.
My question is, is one supposed to determine any heat with one's palm
from this design of shield? If so, how warm should this heat be? Could
anyone suggest a testing procedure?
Thanks in advance,
Christos
