I just bought a brand new 8" LX50 last night. Everything checks out =
except for the dec adjustment. It is pretty stiff! I know the stiffness =
is due to the motor because I pulled off the motor gear and the dec knob =
turns very easily! Then I put the gear back on the motor shaft and tryed =
adjusting the spacing between it and the dec shaft gear. It still turns =
stiff. In fact you need to turn the shaft slowly or the knob will start =
to slip(even with the knob set screw cranked down as tight as it will go =
without stripping the allen head part). Is this normal? It certainly =
wasn't that way on the 10" LX50 I just sold! It too was stiff but not as =
much as this one! If others have run into the problem what is the fix? =
(By the way I am already aquainted with Mike Lee at Meade!).=20
I am an engineer during the day and it really bugs me to pay $1400 for =
something and have to play engineer at home! Ah now I feel better :>). =
Tnx for the help ahead of time.
