I too had that problem after switching to aluminum dec gears. I thought
it was in the clutch, but no matter what clutch tension I tried the gear
slipped. I am talking about the big 108 gear. It's slipping.
After lots of trial and error, I determined the problem and now have
excellent manual and electronic control over my dec. I simple replaced
the mounting allyn screw with a different head (straight or phillips)
and tightened it down very very tight. Works perfect now. You will need
to adjust your clutch for the right feel.
My opinion, is every adjustment bolt on the LX SCT's should be replaced
with phillips head. I have a couple of allyn heads somewhat stripped.
Remember, your warranty may not be valid if you tinker around with your
scope.
