While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
I have a 8in LX50 & a magellan II and have a couple of questions with
regard to my accuracy with the magellan and my RA drive.
1. Many times when using the magellan and I try to find an object my first
try is not successful, however if I slew around the field and
hit find again the object appears in the field of view. What could
cause this, why do I not find the target on the first attempt. Please
note that I have read the archieves on how to improve accuarcy
through proper alignment star selection....etc. Anyone else experience this.
2. I do not know if this problem is related to the magellan or not. My
RA drive seems to be running slow. I always have to use the west key to
keep recentering the target. In a 9mm reticle eyepiece the star will move
about 1/2 the FOV in about a minute or two. I'am using an external power
supply. I do not know if this is periodic error or a problem with
the drive, but this makes it very challanging when imaging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
