While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Wouldn't it be possible to tell if it is the encoder gears or the hand paddle
causing the problem, by powering up using the original hand paddle, and not
the Magellan II paddle at all, and seeing if you still have the drift ?
