Yes....since it's a two stage shutter system, stage 1 locks up the mirror,
stage 2 trips the shutter. To activate it you have to tap the shutter button
(not press it), kind of like you would be tapping your finger on a table.
There is a Japanese camera (name escapes me) that has the same two stage
system and works the same way. It's not intentional but it works very well
for me for the last three years, I can now get it to lock up every time
without tripping the shutter. Also, I actually think there is less chance of
shifting the scope then if you were to have to grab a lever and move it to
lock up the mirror.
Try it on this camera, but, based on it's price I'd say buy it, or let me
know and I will buy it as a spare.
