While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

With the polar alignment the LX 200 will choose and slew
a very bright star after manual aiming towards the pole star
is completed.

My problem is, that this very bright star is quite often
behind a mountain south of my observation point.

How is it possible to choose another star ????
