While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Dear Mayor Schell,
Though not one of your constituants I can See Mt. Ranier on a clear day
from here in Victoria BC. I understand that there are plans to
illuminate bridges as a way to celebrate the millennium's change.
Please read the article By David Levy appearing in this weekend's
"Parade Magazine" on light pollution and it's effects. Your well
intentioned efforts may in fact run counter to a rising public awareness
of this problem. As there is an estimated 1.5 Billion dollars wasted in
improper lighting you may want to reconsider making more of a
contribution to this from the city of Seattle.
Further information may be recieved from the non-profit organization
"International Dark-Sky Association, 3225 North First Ave., Tucson ,
Arizona 85719 or at
http://www.darksky.org/~ida/
Please re-consider your plans to light the bridges in this way.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Eric Schandall
Victoria, BC
