Dear Mr. Mayor,
Mail traffic on the internet caught my eye in regards to your city's upcoming
plans to celebrate the year 2000.
The installation of "garrish" lighting to celebrate such an event, just
seems to be
another example of waste that taxpayers have to endure for the sake of
government.
I would think that Seattle, like Denver, has far pressing needs to make use
of such funds.
It would be nice to see the "New Mellenium" begin with those holding
political office sending
taxpayer dollars in the right direction.
In Denver, we experienced power shortages earlier this summer, and I see
little need for the
excessive lighting that has been installed in this area. Since all cities
share the nations power
grid in some fashion, I encourage all to take a more conservative view to
their use of electricity.
Please consider an alternate method to celebrate this event.
Regards,
Bill Eareckson
