Dr Sir,
I have herd of your plan to light Seattle's
bridges to "celebrate the new millenium."
I urge you to reconsider this. Countless
hours and money have gone into the project
of reclaiming the night sky. Mostly, people
are completely unaware there is even a problem
with light pollution because they never take the
time to look up. And if they did, from the city,
there is probably nothing to see anyway.
This is something we are hoping to change
but spending thousands of dollars to
intentionally light up the night sky is a mistake
and a huge step in the wrong direction.
In working with local car dealers in my area,
though reluctant to spend much money up-
grading existing lighting, are always willing
to listen. I have gotten several of them to
adjust there lighting so it points at the ground
and to turn off the bulk of the lighting after hours.
Please reconsider the lighting of Seattle's
bridges because I am sure other cities for
follow suite and light there bridges, buildings,
etc. Please do not let this happen.
Thank you for you time.
