While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

OK, how 'bout this: You know *approximately* where the scope is when it is
powered up, right? So tell it to slew to a very bright star; it will be
close if not on the chip. Then have a little software to do a spiral
search for the bright star. It might take a few minutes, depending mostly
on the speed of downloading the image. But you can do this is your
camera's lowest resolution mode.
