Gary -- If I recall you downloaded a copy of ACP. If it's still
within the trial period, download the 1.1 version then try the
Alignment Wizard. 1.1's Alignment Wizard knows how to use Sigma
Octans and do Polar alignments in the Southern Hemisphere. The
Wizard consists of a series of "panels" that you move through,
each describes part of the procedure. The alignment stars are
chosen for best geometry. One of the early panels has an active
checklist that includes the startup orientation of the scope etc.
