While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book
List ? |
Mike
Specifics were that mud daubers had built condos inside the OTA on both
sides of several of the baffles, and in the LXD750 housing, one directly on
the board and main shaft bearing. I found these upon searching for an image
shift problem which turned out to be the shredded teflon strips on the
focuser drawtube. The 152ED had been left stored in his observatory with
the diagonal off and no cover on the focuser end apparently. A missing
inspection plate was the inlet to the LXD750 housing. The above combination
of problems caused me to not take up the owner on the offer of repair. His
age played a part in the decision also, he won't be around in 2084 to assist
the group with the Y2K mystery. We've stayed in touch, he returned the
152ED to Meade in April and has not received it back to this date.
BTW, I've owned two Corvettes also. Had I still owned the '66 427 I could
have used it to drag the 152ED from the garage on a set of JMI Wheely Bars.
