My understanding is that the plain-jane 201 suffered from some pretty
serious problems, including the inability to properly darkframe the CCD.
That alone when combined with the fact that the 201 series does not use a
cooled CCD chip would make it essentially useless. The 201XT does work but
really requires a *good* star image (something that most off-axis guiders
are not capable of) to register any brightness and get a good lock in order
to guide. If you intend to use the 201XT with a guidescope, by all means,
carry on. Otherwise, if you intend to use an off-axis guider, get the SBIG
ST-4 instead. More money but much more capable.
