While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

M....Your comments below are just the point; not everyone is an experienced Corvette owner. Even you had to be inexperienced at some point.... spending amounts like $3500 makes one quite leery. In order to be an experienced corvette owner, you need to buy several; but there is always someone in the neighborhood willing to help the first time buyer in looking over the fiberglass rocket for clutch, carb, injector, trans, condition of glass, etc. I was hoping the "neighborhood" would be Mapug in my case. You didn't pass on the specifics of your problem, but if I was you, and I had
gotten a pretty good deal on the 152ED (By the way....it should have been on a
LXD750 not a 650, 650 can't handle the weight, maybe you made a typo), and it
was nice optically, I would definitly think about getting any problems with the
mount fixed, especially if the guy was going to pay for it or at least maybe
give you some of your money back. There is no magic with this mount and nothing
on it that can't be fixed assuming that the housing hadn't been smashed. I have
had my Dec. shaft and gear, RA shaft and Gear and both motors replaced on mine,
plus the motherboard has been now upgraded for the second time to the latest
verion. It works like a charm and is a great mount.

As far as a checlklist goes, it's just like buying a corvette, an experienced
corvette owner knows what to look for and doesn't need a checklist, others
could use a checklist and never know what they are actually looking for.
