While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I have just traded in a 10" F6.3 LX200 for an 8" F10. I found the 10" to be
very inconvenient due to its weight. Your comment that the scope will
spend most of its time in one location mitigates this somewhat, but
I'd still worry about the size of the beast...I'm VERY happy with the 8".
