While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I too just bought the LX200 10" F/10 and while it is big, it is
managable by one "healthy" man. For deep sky, the Mak is not the best
solution. If you were primarily planetary, then maybe.

I almost bought the 8" but decided that the additional light gathering
was well worth the few pounds. As someone else mentioned, the scope
saver is a saver (unless you are doing photography with the wedge then
it is useless).
