While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Okay, I finally removed my LX-200 accessory bolts, and it was easy! I
bought a set of Allen insert bits and used the 3/32" bit, mounted in my
cordless drill, to remove the bolt. The cordless drill has a clutch that
offers selectable torque impacts. I started with the lowest setting (of
course) and progressed up until the bolt broke loose. The range is 1-10,
and a setting of 4 finally broke the bolt loose. This whole time I pushed
the drill hard against the bolt head to avoid slipping.
I used this method per a suggestion by Doc G, who advised using a T
handled Allen wrench. They both apply torque to the bolt head without
cantilevering. His method may be better for more stubborn bolts, because
the T handle can be hammered lightly to seat the Allen wrench better;
however, I did notice that the impact feature of the cordless drill worked
rather well.
I would advise the methods above over applying heat or slicing and
dicing the bolt head.
Thanks for your suggestions.
