While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

My question posed to MAPUG concerns software that I can use to study
the sky with and plan observation sessions with non-astronomers. I have an
LX-200 telescopes, and I want to be able to show them the sky, but I also
want to use some software that can paint the sky with Messier objects, stars
and planets. By looking at a computer screen, they will be able to
visualize what is up there and what they will be looking at. I would also
like to rotate the earth so that they can see where these objects are as the
year progresses.
Does anyone have any opinions and/or reviews on astronomy software that
will help me do this?
Thanks.
