After spending some "quality time" with the guys at OPT, I've finally
sorted out some of the set-up bugs in my Pictor 416. Several images of the
neighborhood have come through the rain.
However, it looks like frost, or at least moisture, is forming on the CCD.
Dozens of little cherrios cover the image, with crystals shapes near the
edges. The pattern is consistent, even when the camera is moved to a
different target. The pattern is also visible with the naked eye.
I'm letting the camera warm up now, and will check it again in a few
minutes, which leads to my question. The status bar has a box for the
temperature, which reads,
I understand that "-2.20" is the temperature Celsius, and 96% describes
the power used to achieve this temperature, but what does the "38.00" stand
for? Neither the owners manual, no the help files explain it. I'm using
version 6.4, release 1.
