While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

Hello Again,
While drift aligning the other night I noticed that when I moved the scope
in dec while looking through the 9mm guiding eyepeice that the star would
first move slightly in RA first then move in dec. If I changed dec direction
the star would then move the opposite way in RA and then in dec. I had the
eyepeice oriented in NSEW. I then noticed that the optical tube seemed to
have some play in the fork mount even with the dec knob twisted down tight.
I think that when I use the dec motor it's pushing the optical tube back and
forth in the fork mount causing the movement in RA. This motion seems to be
verified by my autoguider. When a correction is made in dec that changes the
dec direction the RA corrections increase for one or two cycles then return
to normal.
The scope is a 10" f/10 LX200. If the problem is that the scope is loose in
the fork arms is there an " in home " correction for this?
Thanks, Robert
