While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

Hmmm. I'm used to the RS232 being entirely separate from the hand
controller on my still nicely working 1992 model LX200. I wonder
whether RS232 commands issued through the ETX $150 hand controller
will register appropriate screen readouts on it? Might be there could
be some neat results out of some Doc Greiner style research on this.
Might even lead to more undocumented commands for the LX200
controllers?!?
I'm also curious as to the precision possible with one of these little
guys: hopefully within 15 arc seconds or so.
For variable stars, I can see that it could be useful having an ETX
hooked up along with my LX200 so that both could be slewed at the same
time, perhaps for 2 observers.
Another question: could an electronics whiz design a device that
could translate computer generated RS232 commands so that the ETX
could understand them without the intervention of the optional $150
hand controller?
