While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

At 2x correction, the motor doesn't move East because it's such a slight
movement, it simply STOPS the drive motor from moving West. By doing this,
the earth rotation simulates eastern movement. This is normal operation.
Sorry, I can't help with your other problem. Didn't have that one happen
yet. :)
