I have owned an LX10 since June last year and I think its great! I did
consider going for a bigger scope (like the LX200) but I would have to
owe my wife too many favours! Besides I live in the middle of a town and
to lug the extra weight of a bigger telescope would have seen my
patience and enthusiasm wear thin.
And that's why I prefer the LX10. It has the same optics as the LX200
and is more portable. I live in SE England and I've taken it camping
with me to Scotland and in other rural parts of England. I'm stunned at
some of the views I had with it, both astronomically and terrestially.
And I add:
The LX10 is similar optically and mechanically to most Celestron C8(s).
Optically excellent but mechanically deficient. Nothing wrong with
owning a relatively large aperature but lightweight instrument.
I had a lot of fun with my C8 many years ago but it in no way compares
to an LX200. I predict you will at some time grow into a more
heavy-duty telescope once you have used the LX10 to overcome the
beginner's learning curve.
