While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

A question for the thoughtful & knowlegeable members in this area:

I was thinking about a comment I read in a recent article that said most
modern observatory scopes are alt-az mounted vs. equatorially. LX200 in alt-
az is steadier and easier as we know.

Now the question:

Understanding that PEC isn't available in alt-az for some reason, if you
routinely used a 201xt with a guidescope in alt-az, how would this compare
with a wedge mounted arrangement with PEC activated and no auto guiding? I
suspect one would see superior results with 201xt/guidescope / wedge/polar but
what about this 'in-between' solution?

Thoughts appreciated.
Kevin
