I did this about 3 months ago- Had some strange runaway problems. Doc G was
very helpful in helping me track down the problem (thanks again!), but
unfortunately it needed to be sent in. Meade (John Piper) sent me the
instructions (I could scan and E-mail you - respond privately) and took my
credit card number. I disassembled the scope and boxed up both motors, system
board, cables, and hand controller. For the $200 they check and repair/replace
ANY problems with ANY of the parts. They need al the misc. parts so they can
check everything together, just as it was on your scope. The RA motor I sent
was not the one I received back, even though my problem was only (I thought) in
the Dec motor. Mine took 3 weeks total door to door. Threw the parts back in,
shook it well, and everything worked great! I was very pleased with the prompt
service. At the time John said my other option was to pay $150 and they would
send me a Dec motor- and I would have to take my chances that this was the only
problem. The extra $50 was worth the piece of mind so I sent it all in.
