appreciated

Meade is correct. This is wise and even essential in order to decipher a
problem.

I am quite sure that you are quite wrong in your assumption. Sorry to be so
blunt. The vibration is caused by the motor hunting which is caused by the
electrical signal sent to it from the main board. In fact, the main board
is the likely source of the vibration.

What would we do on this list without your expertise?

If only the LX200 would work manually with both the Dec and RA drives
removed. Unfortunately it will not stay in any position without it being
perfectly balanced which makes moving the scope to view objects nearly
impossible.

Ever try to use an LX200 with the motors removed? While my LX200 guts are
off at meade getting repaired, I would like to know how one can effectively
use the telescope using good 'ol star hopping. The main problem seems to be
coming up with some sort of axis braking so that the scope doesn't swing
wildly about. All suggestiuons welcome - it's clear out tonight!
