While you're here, how about checking out the
Astronomy Book

First, thanks for the great tips on the field power supply solutions. It
has really helped! Now I have a question about storage and transportation.
Most of my observing will be done while camping at various places. I have
purchased a two wheel dolly and the Meade soft carry case. What I have
done is placed the OTA in the case and secured it to the dolly with lots
of high quality bungy cords. I'm pretty happy with the arrangement. It
seems rock solid and is very easy to transport. I have two questions about
it.
1. I wanted to wrap the OTA in a soft cotten bed sheet I have lying
around and then place it in the case for some extra shock absorption. Do
you think the extra lint and fibers that will accompany such a sheet would
get into the scope and cause trouble?
2. What part of the scope should be taking on the weight, ie put "down".
When I received the scope it was in the foam case on its side. I assume
this is the way to do it, on the side?
Thanks!
