While you're here, how about checking out the Astronomy Book List ?

I finally got my mount back after shipping it to Meade for a runaway dec
problem. They replaced everything in the drive except the ra motor/encoder
assembly. Now my problem is dec backlash, it is so bad that when trying to
find M82 the unit is way off (over a degree), after doing a synch on M82 the
unit is able to move in dec (in the same direction) right to M81 with no
problem. When asked to go back to M82 the drive turns on the dec motor
briefly but the scope does not move from M81.

Is there any adjustment of the belt drive from the dec motor that could
help?
