I am sorry that I have not explained myself very well in my two posts. I
noticed a tight dec slow motion control during my initial polar alignment
with the scope power off. On powering the scope up and going through the
alignment routine when the scoped slewed to the alignment star the dec axis
did not seem to move very far. Tried to slew scope in dec with the hand
controller, movement in south but not north. Turned off scope and tried to
move in dec with manual slow motion control and still noticed a very tight
feel to the control. Unlocked
dec axis and moved scope back to 90 degrees and re locked. Action seemed
back to normal. Went through alignment routine again and all seemed well
That was on Friday night. Took scope out again on Saturday and it performed
perfectly. The only problem I did encounter was trying to observe under a
full moon. I will have monitor this situation and hope it does not return,
if so a call to Meade will be in order. Thanks to all who have responded to
my original post.
