Hi Gordon:
I have a Meade 2120 scope (10" f10) which I use for visual work and a little
film photography. I purchased the Lumicon Sky Vector II last year and have
been very pleased with it.
The mounting hardware is simple and solid. After a short struggle with some
cryptic and ambiguous set up instructions, I am now confident that I can
find most anything in the amateur repertoire.
The Sky Vector has an align command which is the equivalent to Sync. I use
it as a matter of course after finding each object, unless it is extended
like the Veil. To do so on the Veil for example would introduce more error
than it would remove.
One hint. In my view, the greatest limitation in the accuracy of DSCs is
the lack of orthogonal alignment present in most, if not all mounts. After
lots of effort with my own methods of alignment, Meade's ever helpful Mike
Lee, gave me their suggested procedure. The alignment is now better, but I
don't believe that it can be perfected. What can be!
After the Telrad, the DSCs represent my greatest leap forward in the
enjoyment of amateur astronomy.
Clear Skies,
