Hi Peter,
I 've been using the Pictor 416 XT for almost 2 years now and I'm quite
happy with it. Icing was never a problem so far even though we get
plenty of moisture here in the swiss alps. The software has matured a
lot within the last year and if you ever have any problems with it,
there will always be somebody on MAPUG to help you out. I use my camera
with a 12" LX 200, for guiding I have a 4" MEADE 2045 scope mounted on a
Losmandy plate. This setup works well with the 201 XT and is probably
preferable to a CCD-camera with the guiding chip next to the main CCD,
especially when doing color pix. So far I've been lucky never to
experience mirror flop neither on the main nor the guiding scope. Even
if your setup works perfectly well, you'll have to gain a lot of
experience and make many mistakes before you get decent pictures.
I wish you "Viel Glück und klare Nächte"!
Bert
I wish you good luck with your future CCD camera.
