Hi Wayne,
I live in the southeast and don't have the western diamond back to
deal with. We have copperheads and timber rattlers. So far, I have not
had a problem with them inviting themselves to my observing sessions. We
have about 60 chickens that are free-ranged (let out of the coup to
forage for themselves). They do a good job of taking out the snake
population. They have one copperhead and two ring-necked snakes to their
credit so far. I think that if you can get rid of their food source, the
snakes will leave.
